Plain-language summary of how Genlock is licensed and what you own. This page summarizes the model; the in-app license terms govern.
License model
Genlock uses a binary, one-time license model — there is no subscription and no middle tier:
- Free — one project and the full editing suite, with manual prompt copy-paste. Genuinely free, no card required, no expiry.
- Universal — $119 one-time — unlimited projects, in-app generation, MCP Autopilot, and custom BONE creation. Minor updates are free; major version upgrades are optional at $29.95.
Tester keys are time-limited Universal keys that degrade gracefully to Free when they expire — never a lockout. Studio is multi-seat Universal issued under a single invoice; it is an issuance variant of Universal, not a separate price.
Verification & ownership
License keys are Ed25519-signed and re-verified offline on every boot. The key lives in app-data (license.json), not in your workspace. Your projects, characters, prompts and generated assets are yours and remain on your disk regardless of license state.
Your data
Genlock does not receive, store, or transmit your story data. You bring your own generator and LLM credentials, which are used locally. You are responsible for complying with the terms of the third-party generators and models you connect.
No warranty for generated content
Genlock orchestrates third-party generators but does not generate content itself and makes no representation about the rights, accuracy, or suitability of any output produced by a connected provider.
